Oscar Lucinda is a blog that can only be described as 'simply beautiful'. With it's pretty minimalist layout and stunning photography it is one that will keep you coming back for more. Please welcome Claire (and make sure you pop over and say hello).
1. Why did you start blogging and why have you continued?
I started blogging regularly in 2010. I felt inspired by other blogs I
was reading at the time, and enjoyed the process of taking photos and
putting together a post...then I fell pregnant soon after and my blog
turned into a way for me to keep my memories.
I think
a record of baby/childhood can be a
cherished gift for children as they grow. My parents kept a baby book
for me -
a simple, foolscap lined scrapbook, covered in sweet baby gift wrap with
the
hospital portrait placed proudly on the front. when I was young, I spent
many
hours pouring over these pages which were filled with photos, nicknames,
my
drawings and baby cards. I loved the thought that my parents found all
these
keepsakes and memories so important and worth treasuring. I'm hoping to
include some the pictures/words from my blog posts in a baby book that I'm creating for Saskia. I love the blog format, but nothing beats the
magic of a treasure in your hands.
2. What do you blog about?
Although
most of my posts are for memory-keeping purposes (Saskia's monthly
portraits, her development & interests), I've also started posting
about places in Canberra (it's not all roundabouts and government
departments), some snippets of our life, our home (simple pleasures of
ordinary days) - and I'd love to write some more posts about children
and art, and children's books (I work in gallery education).
3. What are your top 3 favourite Aussie blogs to read?
I read a lot of the popular Australian blogs, some you have featured
before, but these are 3 that i hope others mightn't have discovered
before. There's a thrill in stumbling across a new blog and being
invited into someone elses world.
Little Wild Moose - beautiful captures, a gentle, thoughtful mama - and the
place you'll find the most delicious recipe for bliss balls!
How We Montessori - I've been inspired by Kylie's blog ever since I
discovered it early last year. I especially love her posts about kids
in the kitchen and helping out, learning everyday life skills.
One Bubble Two - Tilly is Saskia's best friend (and Kelly happens to be one of my dearest friends)
(I
also keep a record of all the blogs i enjoy reading on my
sidebar...I've found some beautiful spaces via the 52 project lately)
4. What do you like most about the blogging world?
Being
inspired by like-minded souls, discovering ways of creating, living,
being, sharing a piece of our world with some lovely people who I
otherwise would not have met/known. I met a very special friend through
the blogging world early last year - and our friendship, which came so
naturally, reminds me of how giving this blogging world can be.
{Also, before I go; I am thinking of setting up an Australian Bloggers group on Facebook. A place where we can network, ask questions and possibly set up meet-ups. I am hoping for a group that will be really active and supportive, so if this sounds like something you would like to be a part of, let me know in the comments below.I'm just trying to see if there is an interest at this stage Edit. There is now a Facebook group! We'd love to see you there!}
